Workneh Bezu Kassa
Workneh Bezu Kassa was born in 1978 in Ethiopia and currently lives and works in Addis Ababa. Workneh experiments with different art forms such as paintings, sculptures, graphics, and video works. Later on, the artist shifted his attention from circles to female figures. The artist creates artworks that feature mothers and children, their emotional connection and that represent an array of human emotions such as sadness, happiness, frustrations, and many more.
Onyis Martin, Something old something new X, 2021. Onyis Martin was born in 1987 in Kisumu, Kenya but currently lives and works in Nairobi. Martin’s approach to and investigation of the themes central to his practice is a complex and articulated process, often using his private experience as a departure point. The interweaving individual with collective experiences of human displacement and migration, through his work he questions our understanding and engagement with human trafficking and its catastrophic consequences, reflecting on the often intimate, personal reasons why people migrate.
